Montinho da Luz was built on the remains of an old farm. It's in that typical style, while maintaining the true traditional Algarve identity that a beautiful Quinta (villa) was built in 2005. The 45cm thick walls (warm during the winter, cool during the summer), the round chimneys which are so typical for the area, the ladrilhos (floor flags) of Santa Catarina and the rural finished walls deliver a true feeling of the way it was "back in the days".

The interior, in traditional Portuguese colors, is comfortable. De bedrooms and living rooms all have air-conditioning (for the warm nights). The floor heating in each room allows for a pleasant stay during the cooler periods as well. The living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms are fitted with all modern conveniences and fully decorated. The Quinta and holiday houses, the terraces and swimming pool are all facing south/southwest, which means you can enjoy the sun all day and witness the often spectacular colors during the sunset.

The total surface area is 8900 m2, situated on wooded slopes with splendid views of the hills in the surrounding countryside. The adjacent, well laid-out, asphalted track -and bicycle paths might tempt one for some sporty moments. On a small part of the natural growth around the Quinta the showpiece -the garden- has been laid-out. The garden also holds a number of (fruit-) trees and bushes typically found in Portugal.

Throughout the garden various sit-downs have been built where one can relax. In the comfortable shadow of the high olive trees the petanque (lawn bowling) court allows for a good game, while the bench made of natural stone underneath the St. John's bread tree is a nice spot to quietly drift away.

With her walls, trees and bushes Montinho da Luz offers you lots of privacy. There's  ample parking space and our Montinho can be found in the Estoi, Moncarapacho and Olhão triangle. Here you can do your daily groceries, enjoy the fine restaurants or have a refreshing beverage on one of the many picturesque squares.

Our holiday accommodation is located only 10 km from the Faro Airport. The truly Portuguese city of Olhão is only 5 km away from your accommodation. The beautifully renovated town of Tavira is just a fifteen minute drive. The beaches of Fuzeta and Olhão and the nature reserve Ria Formosa are less than 7 km away. Furthermore you can find some golf courses in the vicinity of your holiday house.
